Sekondi, July 29, GNA - The Right Reverend Alexander Kobina Asmah, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Sekondi has called on churches within the diocese to develop strategies to win more souls for the kingdom of God.
"This is a critical condition of Church growth principle in fulfilling the great Commission to all Christians".
The Bishop in this regard, charged the church to eschew negative attitudes of probabilism and pessimism and create new values for growth, development and advancement.
“We need to be poised in adapting marketing challenges and resilient in repositioning for growth".
The Bishop of the Sekondi Diocese was speaking at the Second Session of the fifth Diocesan Synod on the theme: "Repositioning for Church Growth and Advancement in a pluralistic and challenging Time of Ours".
He said the 20 years of infighting, rebellion, disrespect of authority and the breakaway had retarded the spiritual, physical, financial and infrastructural growth of the Anglican church and advised that, “We cannot continue to fight and hate ourselves as the Body of Christ."
The Bishop indicated that renewing the mind of members, repositioning and uniting as an archdeaconry for growth was imperative in this current state.
A Biblical example, he mentioned was when Deborah, the prophetess, the warrior and leader of the Israelites repositioned them for victory and called on the Church to make a conscious efforts to contribute to the new vision of a better tomorrow for the Church.
Bishop Asmah highlighting on current church policy, entreated all assemblies to halt new projects as the diocese supports three priority projects to avoid stagnation.
He mentioned that the diocese was registering all lands of the church as well as ensure that educational needs of ministers and general congregation was taken care off.
The Bishop commended the parishes, the administrators and the body of Christ for exercising faith despite the numerous challenges that the Church faced in recent times.
