The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in the Asuogyaman District has held a dialogue with Parliamentary Candidates (PCs) to share their vision and policies with residents in the area.
The dialogue which was held last Wednesday at the Akrade community center also brought together the Eastern Regional Director, NCCE, Ophelia Ankra, Deputy Eastern Regional Director, NCCE, Augustine Bosrotsi, and District Chief Executive of Asuogyaman, Mavis Opokua Akonnor.
Others were Inspector Antoinette Asamoah, Ghana Police Service, Daniel Siaw, Information Service Department, Nana Awusi Djan representing the Traditional Authority, and Rev. Richard Dzakpasu.
The event was also marked by active civic engagements and discussions on critical local issues with youth groups, women groups, and party supporters.
Present was also the NPP Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the area, Pius Enam Hadzide while the NDC Parliamentary candidate and Member of Parliament was absent.
In his opening remarks, Chairman for the event, Rev. Richard Dzakpasu, urged all participants to engage peacefully and show respect for one another, regardless of their political affiliations while emphasising the need for them to ensure peace prevails in the area ahead of the December 7.
Pius Enam Hadzide who touched on NCCE’s recent research titled “Matters of Concern to the Ghanaian Voter: Election 2024,” outlined several policy initiatives he intends to implement if elected.
These include the establishment of a job center in the Asuogyaman District to help local youth connect with employment opportunities, interest free loans to residents of the district and skills development programmes.
He further expressed his commitment to zone the Asuogyaman District for industrialisation which in his view will generate job opportunities, drive economic growth while pledging to accept the outcome of the results of the upcoming election.
District Director of NCCE, Alexander Boakye Yiadom, also commended the presence of the NDC representatives stressing that safe-guarding the peace and stability of the district and the country during the electoral process remains a priority for all stakeholders.
