THE MANAGEMENT of Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) has recalled 500 students who were suspended for breaking school rules.
The irate students destroyed properties and also smashed the windscreen of some cars that were parked in the school few days ago.
The school took the decision to recall the students after a marathon meeting with the KTI Parent, Teacher Association (PTA) on Sunday.
Disturbances
Aggrieved students of KTI, it would be recalled, went on rampage as they virtually destroyed everything on sight in the school.
According to reports, the students became very angry when it emerged that a security man in the school had attacked some students.
The students, reportedly, left school to watch a football match outside without permission, and so the security man manhandled them.
Some students therefore took the law into their hands as they destroyed items. Others also absented themselves from school without permit.
The action of the students compelled the school management to suspend 500 students as part of measures to ensure discipline.
Meeting
During the Sunday meeting, it was also agreed that the rampaging students would bear the full cost of all damaged items in the school.
Gabriel Osei, the principal of the school, stated emphatically that the school management would uphold discipline in campus at all times.
According to him, the school has rules governing it so management would make sure every student respected the school rules.
The Chairman of the PTA, Nana Yeboah Mensah, stated that CCTV cameras should be installed at vantage points in the school.
According to him, the installation of the CCTV cameras would help to identify students who cause destruction to properties on campus.
When this report was being filed on Sunday, there was calm in the school.
