The Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the Agona East constituency Hannah Asamoah says the removal of a joint billboard of NPP Presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and herself will not affect her chances in the 2024 elections.
About eight individuals including the Regent of Mankrong Junction Nana Ababio II were dragged to the Agona Swedru Magistrate court by the party in the constituency after the incident which occurred on July 14. They appeared before the court on July 16, 2024.
They were each granted a bail of 10,000 cedis and were also directed to mount the billboard at the same spot where they brought it down to ensure peace and tranquillity.
However, the NPP Parliamentary candidate says the action in the Mankrong area will not affect the fortunes of the party going into the 2024 elections, adding that the elders ever since the issues have learnt their lesson.
“The issues of the billboard defacing has been a ritual for the sitting MP. Every year her supporters in the Mankrong community remove billboards of NPP candidates. But this time we decided to respond by arresting those who ordered the removal of the billboard of myself and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“The elders who were summoned before the court have seen their mistakes and I don’t think they will repeat them. This thing will not affect our chances in the 2024 elections. The MP has not done enough in the constituency. The people must also try the NPP and they will not regret it,”
