Interior Minister, Henry Quartey has vowed to ensure the arrest and prosecution of persons who use social media to incite violence and chaos in the country ahead of the December polls.
According to the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, the False Publication Act will be fully enforced this year.
Speaking at the commissioning of a Police shop at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, Henry Quartey said anyone making threatening statements on social media related to the elections will face prosecution.
“Very soon, and I repeat, very soon, under the False Publication Act, anybody who makes threatening statements to incite violence before, during and after the elections, we will make sure the law deals with the person, and a court of competent jurisdiction will work.
“No violence before, during and after the elections, so, if there’s anybody who is thinking so, please rehash your strategy,” the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey said.
