Some New Patriotic Party members in the Ashanti Region have called on the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, to reject an offer to become the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
The individuals, made up of members of the volunteer groups who campaigned for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong during the NPP’s presidential primaries, allege bias in favor of the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The groups maintain that the Assin Central MP is the best person to lead the country and want him to consider opting as an Independent candidate for the 2024 presidential elections.
The leadership of the groups says it has petitioned Kennedy Agyapong and will also have a series of engagements until concerns contained in the petition are addressed.
Chairman of the Volunteer groups, Gabriel Amankwaah, addressed a news conference in Kumasi.
“Ken Agaypong, we are here today to urge you never to join them on any campaign platform because you are the only person that the success of this country lies in your hands. And we believe that Insha Allah, you will be the next president of this country. We, the volunteer groups, toured all these regions for you because we bought into your message and ideology as Ghanaians and not only as NPP members.”
