The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that it is beginning to replace all prepaid meters with smart ones in Prampram, Greater Accra.
A statement issued by the power distribution company indicated that a team has been deployed to the area to inspect and take details of the meters, after which another team will be deployed to replace the meters free of charge.
The statement warned consumers that the exercise may disrupt power supply and appealed for their full cooperation during the replacement period.
“We write to inform you of an ongoing exercise by the Electricity Company of Ghana(ECG) to replace all existing prepayment meters in PRAMPRAM District with smart meters. We have therefore deployed some staff to visit your premises to inspect and take details of your meter(s).”
“Another team will come after the first group to undertake the replacement of the meter(s) for FREE. Supply to your premises may be interrupted for a short period during the replacement exercise. We are therefore appealing to you to bear with us during this period.”
