Suspected black flies have invaded the Dawhenya Electoral Area and extended to parts of the Laluekpo Electoral Area in the Ningo Prampram constituency.
The invasion of the flies was disclosed by the Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Nartey George in a statement he issued in Accra on Monday.
“This afternoon at 1322hrs, I received the first complaint from a Constituent of a suspected invasion of black flies in the Dawhenya Electoral Area and extending to some parts of the Laluekpo Dectoral Area.”
He said his office was working closely with the District Health Directorate and the District Environmental Health & Safety Directorate to identify the fly species.
The MP advised residents of the affected areas to cover up as much as possible.
“In the interim, the advice is for residents of the affected areas to cover up as much as possible. It is my hope that the relevant State authorities act expeditiously to provide containment protocols for the affected areas,” he urged.
