Exporters, financial institutions, and key players in the trade sector are set to gather at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on April 9 for a high-level forum focused on improving access to export financing.
The event, themed “Credit Insurance as a Financing Tool for Exporters,” is being organised by Activa International Insurance in partnership with Coface.
Scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the forum will bring together stakeholders from the export, finance, and insurance industries to explore practical ways of unlocking capital while managing trade risks.
The discussion comes at a crucial time as Ghana steps up efforts to grow its non-traditional exports and fully take advantage of opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which make up a large share of the country’s export sector, are expected to gain valuable insights into financing options that can support their growth.
Participants will hear from industry experts through presentations and panel discussions, with a focus on how credit insurance can support cross-border trade—especially within the AfCFTA framework. Real-life case studies will also be shared, showing how exporters have used insured receivables to access working capital from banks.
Credit insurance is increasingly becoming an important tool in trade finance, offering protection against the risk of non-payment by buyers. With more financial institutions accepting insured receivables as collateral, exporters are now better positioned to secure affordable financing and maintain healthy cash flow.
Organisers say the forum will also serve as a valuable networking platform, creating opportunities for exporters, insurers, and financial institutions to build partnerships that strengthen Ghana’s export ecosystem.
The event is targeted at exporters, aspiring exporters, banks, insurance companies, trade policy experts, government agencies, and business associations.
Participation is by invitation, and interested stakeholders can register via email at [email protected]
