Senior Manager Regional Sales-North, MTN, Mr. Simon Amoh has reiterated the company’s commitment to expanding MoMo’s reach by unlocking new financial opportunities.
Management has therefore developed strategies for leveraging on emerging technologies to enhance service offerings which will meet the evolving needs of Ghana’s financial landscape, he said.
He made this announcement during the MTN Mobile Money Limited (MML) awards night held in Tamale to honour MoMo agents and merchant operators in the Northern sector business district for their significant contributions to growth and sustainability of the Mobile Money service.
This initiative forms part of MoMo’s 15th-anniversary celebrations and aims to express appreciation to its partners for their pivotal role in fostering a customer-centric approach. This approach has ensured inclusivity, promoted the use of mobile money (MoMo) transactions and contributed significantly to job creation across the country.
Since its inception in 2009, the mobile money service has revolutionised the financial services landscape in Ghana. It has provided millions with access to convenient, secure and affordable financial solutions, creating countless job opportunities and amassing millions of active users nationwide. MoMo continues to be an essential tool for financial transactions, driving economic inclusion and growth.
The merchant operators were awarded with citations and cash prizes, ranging from GH?15,000 to GH?4,000 for first to third positions. Some other merchants and agents were also awarded for their contributions.
The awardees were from the Northern, North-East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West Regions of Ghana. This came to light at the Momo @ 15 stakeholders’ dinner and awards ceremony held in Tamale.
Mr. Amoh commended the merchants and agents for their commitment and resilience in providing quality services to its customers at their doorsteps and also making the company the best in Ghana.
“Your continued support to the organsiation has helped to curb fraud and also meet the demands of customers,” he said.
“Without your support as partners, the company would not have been where it is today and therefore we express gratitude to partners – bankers and non-bankers, industry collaborators, customers among others – for their support to transform the service in Ghana,” he added.
Mobile Money Channel Development Manager-North, Mr. Akwasi Kwarteng, said the introducing the service has helped to shape Ghana’s financial landscape in ways very few anticipated.
“We do acknowledge the work done by various stakeholders who continue to work on ensuring that we build the MoMo brand and lead the drive toward financial inclusion in Ghana. We reward these stakeholders for their resilience and commitment to making Ghana a cashless society,” he said.
Some awardees expressed gratitude to the company for appreciating their contributions and pledged to do more to win the ultimate prize at national level.
