British-Ghanaian kid author of four books, Sarah Afua Kittoe, has been nominated for Royal Global Awards in London, United Kingdom. A letter addressed to Sarah from Office Royal, organisers of the event, said Sarah is among the finalists for this year’s awards in the category of Special Recognition.
The Royal Global Awards, scheduled for November 23, 2024 at the exquisite Cavendish Banqueting Hall, promises to be an evening of celebration, honour and acknowledgement of the achievements of individuals who have made extraordinary strides in their respective fields.
For those who have followed the story of Sarah since she first visited Ghana in 2023 at age ten, you would recall that at age 9, Sarah published three kids’ books at a go; then at age 11, she published her fourth book.
Her published works are Lindsey and the Blue Fox, The Friendship Club, Sarah Kittoe’s Colouring Book for kids, and finally Ama and the Lost Key – set in her home country, Ghana, where she gained inspiration for the fourth book during her first visit.
As if writing four books at her young age was not enough, Sarah elected to donate 100 percent of the proceeds of her books to charity. The Wednesday Club of the Methodist Church in her Croydon community in London, which takes care of homeless people, and CentrePoint – a charity chaired by Prince William, which provides support for vulnerable kids are beneficiaries of Sarah’s benevolence.
Sarah took her charity work a notch higher by refurbishing the books library and computer lab for Saint Paul’s Methodist Basic School at Tema in Ghana earlier this year. She provided 21 desktop computers pre-installed with relevant teaching and learning materials and also provided over ten boxes of books for the school’s library.
She promised to replicate the gesture across schools in Ghana and other parts of Africa, and also launch reading and writing clubs in all these schools to encourage school kids in Africa to read and write as they compete for juicy prizes to be announced soon.
In acknowledgment of Sarah’s spirited commitment to writing and to charity, the letter from the awards organisers said: “This recognition is a testament to your exceptional dedication, tireless efforts, and remarkable contributions to your community and those who engage with you.
Being one of the top contenders, your participation would not only inspire others but also highlight the significance of your work in positively engaging our youth in the community,” the letter said.
Meanwhile, ahead of the Royal Global Awards, Sarah would also be participating in this year’s Black British Book Festival, which is Europe’s largest black literary event scheduled for October 5, 2024 at the Barbican Centre, London.
At the book festival, Sarah will be sharing the spotlight with the likes of African-American Grammy Award Winning Artiste, EVE; Former British MP Diana Abbott, British Broadcaster and TV Show Host, Charlene White and Big Mani, among others.
The little author, who recently caught the attention of Alesha Dixon of Britain’s Got Talent fame, also have several events lined up between now and next year in the UK and other parts of the world.
Some of the events on her line-up include:
- Panellist on Project 54 Africa at Kensington Palace – October 25, 2024

- Black Authors on The Rise event – October 27, 2024 and
