The MYO Global Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of young people, donated a wheelchair to Felix Mensah Larbi, a 24-year-old man who has been physically challenged since birth.
In a message read on behalf of Prof. Douglas Boateng, founding chairman of MYO Global Foundation, Zahra Abdulai, Head of Operations of the not-for-profit organisation reiterated: “At MYO Global Foundation, we believe in creating opportunities and providing support to those who need it the most.
“Our donation to Mr. Felix Mensah Larbi is a testament to our commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of young people toward helping build the desired future. We are honoured to support him and hope this wheelchair will significantly improve his mobility and independence”.
The donation took place at a small ceremony held at the home of Felix in Accra, where the Head of Operations handed over the wheelchair to Felix and his family. This gesture is part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and enhancing their quality of life.
Felix, who has faced numerous challenges due to his disability, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Boateng and the MYO Global Foundation for their generous support.
“This wheelchair and zimmer frame will make a huge difference in my daily life. I am deeply thankful to MYO Global Foundation and Prof. Boateng for their kindness and generosity,” he said. His parents expressed their appreciation to the foundation and disclosed the relief the donation would bring them.
The MYO Global Foundation continues to strive toward creating a more inclusive society by providing essential resources and support to individuals. This donation is one of many initiatives undertaken by the foundation to empower and uplift those in need.
Other social intervention projects and activities include monthly donations of sanitary pads to 117 school girls at the La Anglican Basic schools, free breast screening for women at the Madina Market to mark the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2023, mental health talk parties, tree-planting exercises, among others. All of these are aimed at attaining the UN SDGs.
