The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has been presented with three ISO certificates for its competence in the fields of information security, business continuity and IT service management at a cocktail event to round-off its ICT Week celebration in Accra on August 30, 2024.
The certificates include ISO 20000:2018 for IT Service Management; ISO 22301:2019 for Business Continuity; and ISO 27001:2022 for Information Security – the first of its kind presented to a public sector institution in the country.
The certificates’ presentation – jointly done by Deloitte Ghana and the Agency’s external auditors, A4S, on August 30, 2024 – followed months of the Agency’s rigorous assessment by the certification bodies to ascertain whether NITA had the right frameworks, support systems, policies and practices sustainable enough to qualify it for ISO Certifications.
NITA’s Director General, Richard Okyere-Fosu, while addressing media after the event said with these certifications the Agency is well-positioned to provide all government institutions as well as private businesses with the reliable, affordable and secured IT services they need to enable reduced wastage of resources – incurred when securing IT services from other sources.
Also, he noted that the Agency is coming up with a Common National Digital Architecture (CNDA) framework – which will ensure that any entity seeking to provide ICT or digital services to government fits into this framework.
Furthermore, he said: “With the policies, frameworks, systems and measures we have put in place over the years, NITA is at a much better place than when I met it”.
The spectacular cocktail night brought together government officials, private sector business proprietors, academicians within the ICT realm and many others to network, bond and share ideas.
The week-long ICT Week celebration is to acknowledge the progress that NITA has made and to chart the course for the country’s digital transformation future.
Additionally, It provides a unique opportunity to showcase innovations, address challenges and foster collaborations that are vital for driving the country’s digital agenda forward.
