His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse has commended Joe Ghartey for his public service. He said this when Mr. Ghartey, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) led the board and top management to pay a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse last week.
Mr. Ghartey, a five term Member of Parliament, has also been Deputy Attorney General and Deputy Minister of Justice from 2005 to 2006 and Attorney General from June 2006 to January 2009. He was Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 2013 to January 2017 and then Minister for Railways Development from 2017 to January 2021.
Joe Ghartey is currently the Chair of the Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority. The visit to the Ga Mantse was the first of the visits by GRA to traditional authorities to solicit the support of traditional authorities in the execution of its mandate.
Mr. Ghartey noted one of the most resilient if not the most resilient institution in Ghana was the institution of Chieftaincy.
He noted that in spite of the serious attack on the institution especially during the colonial era, the institution of chieftaincy has survived.
Joe Ghartey stated that Ghanaians respect their Chiefs and so does GRA. He said GRA was going to deepen its relationship with Chiefs across the country for the purpose of delivering on its mandate and engaging and educating the public.
