FirstBank Ghana and the Sarkodie Foundation have partnered to support underprivileged kids at a unique community event dubbed the Brighter Day Celebrations that was held at the Redemption Valley School Park in Community 9, Tema on Friday, July 19, 2024.
The event marked a critical milestone in the collaboration between FirstBank and the Sarkodie Foundation aimed at uplifting children through comprehensive child welfare and education programs.
Over 300 children participated in the event which was filled with learning, fun, and essential support, reflecting the shared commitment of the two entities to creating a brighter future for the youth of Ghana.
The Brighter Day celebrations is an innovation of the Sarkodie Foundation which seeks to offer children the skills and resources which will set them on the path to a successful future.
The event successfully addressed critical issues such as educational differences, health awareness, and the lack of creative opportunities. Activities ranged from educational sessions, including reading, science experiments, and arts and crafts, to health and well-being programmes, such as dental health advice and nutrition education.
Recreational activities, including sack racing, tug-of-war, and interactive sessions with Sarkodie, ensured a fun and engaging environment for all participants.
Victor Yaw Asante, CEO of FirstBank Ghana, expressing his enthusiasm for the collaboration, said, “FirstBank Ghana is honoured to partner with the Sarkodie Foundation for the Brighter Day Celebrations.
This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to support educational and financial empowerment in our communities.
By providing financial literacy workshops and essential educational materials, we aim to equip these young minds with the tools they need to achieve financial independence and academic success. We believe in the potential of every child and are committed to helping them realise their dreams.”
FirstBank Ghana’s involvement in the Brighter Day Celebrations extended beyond financial support. The Bank’s representatives conducted financial literacy workshops tailored for both parents and children, emphasizing the importance of saving, budgeting, and making informed financial decisions.
This initiative is aimed at instilling a sense of financial responsibility and empowerment at a young age.
Tracy Owusu-Addo, Director of the Sarkodie Foundation, also commenting on the event, said, “The Brighter Day Celebrations are a testament to the resilience and potential of our youth. Sarkodie’s journey from adversity to international success serves as an inspiration for us all.
This event does not only provide immediate joy and learning opportunities but also builds a foundation for long-term impact in the lives of these children. We are grateful to FirstBank Ghana for their unwavering support and partnership in this noble cause.”
Following the success of the Brighter Day Celebrations, FirstBank Ghana has reaffirmed its dedication to community development and youth empowerment and FirstBank looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Sarkodie Foundation and other like-minded organisations to create sustainable, positive change in the lives of Ghana’s future leaders.
