Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malta, Barbara Akuorkor Benisa has expressed her willingness and preparedness to work with the Ghana Export – Import Bank (GEXIM) to promote Made-In-Ghana products across Malta, the Mediterranean nation known for numerous historic sites.
High Commissioner Barbara Akuorkor Benisa earlier this month met with Management of GEXIM to discuss a possible collaboration to promote Made-In-Ghana products in Malta and across Europe following her participation in the Bank’s ‘Freedom Tuesday Market’, held in Accra.
Freedom Tuesday Market is a Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Fair held at the forecourt of the Ghana Exim Bank, Africa Trade house to commemorate Ghana’s 67th independence anniversary celebration. She later visited the GEXIM Made-In-Ghana (MiG) Town shop located at the ground floor of the Africa Trade House.
GEXIM MiG Town is an outlet that stocks assorted, innovative and well packaged Made-In-Ghana products including food and ingredients, beverages, skin and beauty care products, textiles, apparel, garments, leather footwear and slippers and many others.
The High Commissioner commended the Bank for its enormous support to Ghanaian business and highlighted the importance of the intended collaboration between the Bank and Ghana’s High Commission in Malta.
“As you might be aware, Malta is a country known for tourism and receives about 3 million tourists annually. These are quality tourists coming to the country to holiday and spend money and I think it will be great if we are able to promote these unique, quality and amazing Ghanaian products to millions of tourists. There is also the possibility of these products getting into other markets across Europe, which will be a big deal,” she added.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GEXIM responsible for Banking, Rosemary Beryl Archer assured High Commissioner Barbara Akuorkor Benisa of the Bank’s commitment to ensure an effective collaboration which will not only benefit Ghanaian SMEs but also help to strengthen trade relations between Ghana and Malta to mutually benefit citizens of the two countries.
