National Security operatives, in a joint operation with the Police and Military, have arrested Nigerian businessman Ben Peters at the Aurora apartments in Kanda, near the Jubilee House.;
The operation was led by Richard Jakpa and the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande.
According to Mr. Gbande a distressed call was received with complaints from the residents of the said apartment that the businessman together with some men had blocked all entrance or access to the apartment, preventing access to other residents.
Gbande claimed that the businessman when questioned said the management of the apartment had refused his request for a personalized key for which he decided to block the apartment.
After initially refusing to be arrested, Mr. Peters was eventually arrested along with some associates. Gbande said upon further search in his house, a number of dispatch motorbikes and SUV vehicles with police sirens were discovered.
He said the security officials have since seized these vehicles for further investigations.
“We got a distress call in the morning that Mr. Peters have blocked this residence, all the way from there to there into the house. The residence cannot move out and cannot come in. He did so with his own ‘build army of young men’ and also with vehicles using police sirens.
“In the morning, he refused to come down and we searched and got him. Currently after searching, we realise that he’s got a number of SUV vehicles down there and also using dispatch motorbikes,” he told Citinews on Monday, April 7, 2025.
“He claimed that the management of the residence has not given him a personalized key and the key were being manufactured so therefore, he is upset and has blocked the whole apartment,” he added.
Gbande insisted that the action by the businessman was unlawful as he had no locus to deny other residence access.
“Arrangement are been done to evacuate all the vehicles for further investigations. It is an unlawful conduct; he doesn’t have the right to block the residence and he should not be using police sirens,” he said.
