The Central Regional House of Chiefs has been able to solve a five-year Chieftaincy crisis in Gomoa Ekwamkrom in the Central Region.
This followed a careful review and arbitration processes taken by the House of Chiefs after it was tasked by the National House of Chiefs to deal with the subject and communicate findings to the national body.
Ekwamkrom was thrown into a deep Chieftaincy crisis which threatened the peace and safety of residents following the demise of
Nana Kobina Ekwam IX some five years ago as a rightful successor could not be agreed on.
In 2024, the Central Regional House of Chiefs following instructions from the National House of Chiefs set up a four-member arbitration committee to investigate the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Chieftaincy dispute to its conclusive end.
Announcing, the committee’s report which was produced following series of engagements with litigating parties, Head of Family for Ekwamkrom, Abusuapanin Kojo Acquah, implored “the litigating parties to accept the ruling of the House of Chiefs as steps are being taken to correct errors that were made in the records of the House of Chiefs.”
He also stated that “the most important thing is to ensure that we are all united for the progress and development of this town.”
Meanwhile, he has called on the Ghana Police to beef up security in the area to prevent criminals who may want to exploit the matter as a smokescreen to perpetuate crime.
