The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Armah Kofi Buah, has responded to remarks by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who criticised President John Mahama’s approach to ministerial appointments.
Afenyo-Markin, during a parliamentary session, described Mahama’s nomination of three ministers as a “tot-tot” approach, arguing it was inefficient and contrary to the government’s promise of a “24-hour economy.”
“When the names were read out by Mr Speaker, he read out only three names: the Finance Minister-designate, the Energy Minister-designate, and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice-designate. This ‘tot-tot-tot-tot’ approach is unacceptable. This is a government that promised a 24-hour economy in opposition. They told us they were ready for government,” Afenyo-Markin said.
Armah Kofi Buah, however, dismissed these concerns, suggesting that the Minority Leader’s comments were influenced by frustrations from his party’s electoral loss.
“Afenyo-Markin has been talking a lot lately, but we’re indulging him so he can air all the pains of losing,” Buah stated.
The Ellembelle MP also urged Afenyo-Markin to focus on fulfilling his parliamentary duties rather than criticising the government.

“We want to remind him that his responsibility is to ensure that the business of this House flows,” he said.
President Mahama, on January 9, nominated Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Finance Minister-designate, John Abdulai Jinapor as Energy Minister-designate, and Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as Attorney General and Minister of Justice-designate.
The nominations are set to undergo vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
