Black Stars have ended 2024 ranked 77th in the latest FIFA World Rankings, retaining their 14th position in Africa.
The year has been a challenging one for the four-time African champions. They exited the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the group stage back in January and failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, finishing third in a group that featured Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
However, the team showed glimpses of promise in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with two impressive victories over Mali and the Central African Republic, offering some hope for a brighter future.
In total, the Black Stars played 14 matches in 2024 but managed just three wins, two of which came in official competitions.
Their best FIFA ranking this year was 67th in February, but they have since experienced a steady decline.
Within Africa, Ghana ranks ahead of Zambia and Gabon but trails Cape Verde and Burkina Faso. Morocco, Senegal, and Egypt continue to lead the continent.
On the global stage, Argentina remains at the top, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil. The top ten rankings have stayed unchanged since July.
