Alidu Seidu has successfully undergone surgery after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury last month.
The Ghana international sustained the injury during Rennes’ Ligue 1 match against Lille.
Seidu was forced to leave the pitch after just 18 minutes, and the injury was later confirmed to be severe.
“Victim of a ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee during the match against LOSC, our Ghanaian international will now be able to concentrate on his rehabilitation and re-aestheticization. Strength to you, Alidu,” Rennes announced in a statement.
The right-back is expected to be sidelined until next year, missing several key games, including Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March.
Providing an update on his condition, Seidu shared a message of optimism with fans:
“My surgery went very well! Now to rehab. I’m going to work hard with the help of my people to get back on the field as soon as possible. Thank you, everyone, for your messages and support—it means a lot.”
Before the injury setback, Seidu was having an impressive season with Rennes. He earned the club’s Player of the Month award in September.
The 23-year-old joined the French side in January 2024 from Clermont Foot and quickly became a key player for the team.
