The Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ayawaso West-Wuogon, John Dumelo has officially filed a complaint against her opponent, Lydia Seyram Alhassan at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after the latter was caught on camera distributing food to voters at a polling station.
The complaint follows viral videos on social media where Lydia Seyram was seen giving out food to voters in queue at a polling station during the special voting on December 2, 2024.
In a post shared on X, Dumelo said videos of the conduct by the MP have been attached to the official complaint to the OSP.
“My team also gave material information on plots by Ms. Lydia Seyram Alhassan to unlawfully influence voters on a larger scale come Saturday, December 7, 2024, when the main election will be held,” the statement noted.
The NDC’s parliamentary candidate wants the OSP to investigate the matter and take action to prevent future occurrence in the December 7 elections.
“We expect the OSP to take immediate and decisive steps to not only prevent Ms. Lydia Seyram Alhassan from repeating the unlawful behaviour, but also to bring her and all her accomplices to book.
“It goes without saying that how the OSP handles our complaint between today and Friday, December 6, will determine the quality of Saturday’s elections,” John Dumelo noted in his statement on December 3, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Ayawaso West-Wuogon MP has denied being involved in the alleged act.
In an interview with Accra-based JoyNews, Lydia Seyram Alhassan said she has no idea about what she had been accused of.
“I wasn’t here. I don’t know if you saw me here. I’ve been here since… I came here before 6 am, and I left here a few minutes ago, I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”
