Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has outlined his contributions to his constituents ahead of the December 7 elections.
Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints with Alfred Ocansey Saturday, November 23, 2024, Ablakwa addressed recent developments in his constituency, emphasizing initiatives that have improved healthcare, education, and vocational support for residents.
He highlighted ongoing hernia surgeries conducted at the Atta Mills Surgical Block, a facility he facilitated in collaboration with the NGO Manos Unidas of Spain.
“As of yesterday, we had done over 50 free hernia surgeries. This week, the facility has been in full operation. If my constituents had gone to other hospitals, even with health insurance, they would have paid significant amounts,” he stated.
On education, the MP noted that over 1,500 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates had been provided essential school supplies, including mattresses and provisions to further their education.
Vocational apprentices have also received start-up kits, such as sewing machines, hairdryers, and laptops, to support their livelihoods.
Responding to claims that these initiatives are politically motivated due to the upcoming elections, Ablakwa said “go to my social media pages and see the work we do daily. We do not wait for elections to implement projects. In the 2020 elections, I secured the widest margin of victory in Ghana—89.7%—because of my consistent work.”
He concluded by urging voters to judge him based on his consistent performance and dedication to their well-being, expressing confidence in another successful election outcome.
