The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has taken stern action against vendors who are operating unlawfully near Accra’s recently inaugurated Flower Pot Interchange.
In a viral video social media, Titus Glover is seen destroying tables and chairs that were erected close to the interchange by hawkers who had disregarded earlier orders to leave the area.
The minister’s action is consistent with efforts to preserve the structural integrity and visual appeal of the newly commissioned interchange, which is expected to improve connectivity and traffic flow along the Accra-Tema Motorway.
This enforcement comes after Glover issued a strong warning during the interchange’s commissioning that no unauthorized kiosks, or containers should be mounted near the interchange.

However, vendors returned shortly after the event, resuming operations despite the directive.
The Flowerpot Interchange project, which includes a state-of-the-art 802-meter flyover, begins near the Palace Mall on Spintex Road and ends at Boundary Road in East Legon. Designed to complement the recently completed underpass, the interchange provides an alternative route for North-South travel in Accra.
Key features of the project include: Ramps connecting the flyover to the motorway, upgraded approaches to the Flowerpot Roundabout on Spintex Road, Improved access through the old tunnel leading to East Legon.
Once fully completed, the interchange is expected to enhance the lives of commuters by easing congestion at the Flowerpot intersection and providing a direct link between areas such as Accra East, Burma Camp, and East Legon.
