Gospel musician Uncle Ato has urged church leaders to provide incentives for instrumentalists, singers and needy members in various churches who are supporting God’s work.
Speaking in an interview on Showbiz 360, Sunday, November 10, Uncle Ato referenced the scriptures stating that every labourer must not work in vain.
He called on leaders in churches particularly churches founded and established by one person to prioritise the needs and care of individuals in their churches.
He adviced against exploiting these persons because they have been gifted the talent to either sing or play instrument.
“The scripture makes it clear. In 1st Corinthians chapter 9, the bible says that no soldier goes to war buying his own uniform and boots, no. He deserves to be taken care of.
“In Matthew 10, it also says the labourer deserves his pay so when you go, they will give you where to sleep and it must be given and because that is assured you don’t need to worry about charging them because it is something that must be made for you.
“Probably if you don’t put them on salary prove to them that you care,” Uncle Ato stated.
He noted that in his case, he supports these individuals in his church although they are not on a monthly salary.
He added: “sometime some of these boys, you don’t know where they sleep, what they eat, you don’t even know how they come to church and we don’t even care.”
He argued that if churches are able to donate to orphanages and the needy, why can’t same be done for church members who need support.
“We need to do it, even we gather church monies and give out to orphanages and those on the street, what is the big deal if you have to support those who are contributing to the church, it’s not a problem at all,” the revered worshipper stated.
