Barcelona’s 17-year-old defender Pau Cubarsi is recovering well after sustaining a facial injury that required 10 stitches during their 5-2 Champions League victory over Red Star Belgrade.
Cubarsi, who debuted for Barcelona at just 16, was forced off in the 67th minute after being caught by Uros Spajic’s studs while attempting to clear a corner.
The impact left him with a bloody face and a deep cut, requiring immediate medical attention on the pitch before his substitution.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reassured fans after the match, saying, “He needed stitches, but he’s fine.” Later, the club posted a photo of a smiling Cubarsi with the message, “I’m OK.”
