A three-member delegation from the Ghana Association of Bankers,(GAB) and West African Bankers’ Association(WABA) paid a working visit to the Executive Director and management of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah.
During the brief meeting at the EOCO Head Office in Accra, Commissioner of Police and Executive Director mentioned that she was excited to welcome the delegation and looked forward to what possible collaboration can be birthed out of the meeting.
Following a presentation on the mandate of the office by Ms. Sedina Gbeve of the Legal and Prosecution Unit, the Executive Director, Maame Yaa Tiwaa in her remarks reiterated that economic and organised crime transcends borders and it is therefore very important to have collaborators all over the world. This, she noted would help EOCO in the fight against trans-national organised crime.
She added that EOCO also offers training on various subjects to other institutions that may require skill in specific areas.
Discussions that took place on On October 28, 2024, centred on how to combat cross border.
The delegation led by Mr. John Awuah, Chief Executive Officer of the GBA and accompanied by Alhaji Jeng, Secretary General of West African Bankers’ Association and Lawrence Sackey, Research Manager of the GAB, sought to gain more insight into the operations of the Office and explore potential areas for partnership and knowledge sharing.
Mr. John Awuah acknowledged the valuable collaboration the GAB has with EOCO and was grateful for the partnership.
