The Ghana Police Service has arrested Fatawu Ibrahim, also known as Fatau Motorway, in connection with the violent clashes that erupted between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mamobi, Accra, on Sunday, October 13 2024.
Police had earlier declared Fatawu Ibrahim wanted following the incident. He was was identified in video footage wielding a firearm during the disturbances. The clashes left two individuals injured after reportedly being shot during the altercation.
In a statement issued by the police, they confirmed that “suspect Fatawu Ibrahim was captured in a video footage with a gun during the disturbances in which two people were allegedly shot and injured.”
The police further disclosed that Ibrahim is currently in custody and will be put before the court in due course to face charges related to the incident.
Earlier, the police offered a reward of GHC20,000 for credible information leading to the arrest of suspect Fatau Motorway.
