Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has assured trainee nurses that the government is working to prevent delays in the payment of their allowances.
Addressing students of Korle Bu Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Accra while campaigning, he observed that while delays may occur, they are preferable to the cancellation of the allowances.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring the prompt disbursement of these allowances. NAPO emphasised his commitment to ensuring that their allowances are allocated promptly.
“One of the things I was clear about in the 2020 elections. I was very adamant, and our party was adamant that we will restore the nursing training allowances, they cancelled. And we have restored the nursing training allowances.
The running mate assured the audience that steps would be taken to prevent any delays in the future. NAPO’s reassurance comes as a response to concerns raised by trainees regarding the irregularity of their allowances. By promising to address these issues, he aims to alleviate the financial burden faced by trainees and support their education and training endeavours.
He said that he is hopeful the government will solve the issue of delayed payment of allowances for trainee nurses in the country. “There may be delays, but allowances delayed are better than allowances cancelled” he posited.
Senior Campaign aid for the running mate, Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu said the flag bearer, Dr. Bawumia settled on Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh because he is a man of good heart, a man who can do it and a performer and achiever and understands the dynamics of Ghana’s politics.
He said the December 7 elections will be won from the Ashanti Region and everything is set but what the party needs is the support from all constituencies across the country.
He further stressed that Dr. Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh and the New Patriotic Party means business because they have what it takes to rule the country. He highlight some of the initiatives implemented by the NPP since the time of former president J.A Kuffour saying the NPP is the only government that has the country at heart.
Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Prince Obeng noted that the 2024 elections is about the future of the country. He said in the whole of the world, just four models have propelled a progress and developmental agenda of a country and that is education, digitalization, industrialization and skills training and the current government, led by President Akuffo Addo and Dr. Bawumia, has championed it.
