As Ghana prepare for the 2024 U20 Women’s World Cup, Black Princesses forward Mafia Nyame has pledged to give her all to ensure the team experiences a successful campaign.
Yussif Basigi’s ladies will be playing on the world stage for the seventh consecutive time, facing the daunting task of going beyond the group stage, a feat they have not achieved in their last six appearances.
Nyame, who joined the team’s training camp earlier this month, is eager to make her mark on the global stage.
“I’m excited to be back with the national team to represent the nation. It’s an honour I do not take for granted,” Mafia Nyame said. “I’m going to make a mark at the 2024 World Cup. Though I was part of the team in Costa Rica, I didn’t have enough playing time. Hopefully, if I make it to the squad this time, I’ll do my best for the nation.”
This tournament will be Nyame’s second, having participated in the last edition in Costa Rica, where she made a single appearance as a substitute in a 4-1 defeat to the Netherlands.

Currently training with her teammates in Cape Coast, the AS FAR winger is determined to make amends this time around.
The Black Princesses have been in impressive form, recently winning gold at the 2023 African Games and clinching the WAFU B Girls Cup last year. They aim to replicate this success on the global stage.
Ghana will face former champions Japan, New Zealand, and Austria in Group E, and Nyame’s contributions will be crucial to their success.
