Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested at Gonse in Weija-Gbawe Muncipality of the Greater Accra Region.
Information gathered by Onua News’ Akua Sarpomaa indicates that, the victim Adenare managed to escape from the kidnappers and jumped a wall into a nearby house for help.
According to eye witnesses the victim could only speak French, so they called the Unit Committee Chairman, Prince Achiglo, and he brought a French-speaking person for translation. The victim said he had been kidnapped for the past 8 months.
He was therefore taken to the Anyaa District Command.
In an interview with the landlady of the house where the kidnappers kept the victim, Rose Odei, she said “I gave my apartment to four people not knowing they were more than that”.
“Sometimes when I come back from work through the gate, I see many people roaming on the compound, but when I open, I don’t see them. I see only the four tenants”.
“One day I asked them and they said they were only four, so I didn’t say anything again”.
Shaibu, who is a relative to the victim, told Akua Sarpomaa that he had a distress call from Benin that Adenare called that he’s at the Anyaa Police Station, so they should find someone to come and bail him.
“When I got to the station it was indeed my brother. I asked him what brought him to Ghana, and he said the suspects chatted him on social media that there’s a soccer Academy here in Ghana and he should come and play, and they’ll later send him abroad”.
“When he came, it wasn’t like that, they were moving them from one place to another. They even called the parents in Benin to send them money else they won’t release the boy. So, land they are supposed to sell for ten million CFA Francs, they sold it for three hundred CFA Francs because the pressure they mounted to the family was unbearable,” the brother of the Victim added.
According to our source, the two other suspects moved the 27 remaining victims to unknown place that Sunday when the other victim ran from the house.
We followed to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the CID Headquarters and the department, DSP William Ayariga promised that they will take over the case.
The suspects were later brought to the headquarters but were sent back to into custody at Anyaa Police Command. They will later be taken to the CID Headquarters for further interrogation.
