The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Divine R. K. Bosson has reminded politicians in power that loans acquired are for development purposes and not for personal consumption.
According to him instances where ministers of state and chief executives engage in the looting and sharing of public funds should be condemned without any reservation.
The Municipal Chief Executive gave the reminder when he and his team of development experts embarked on an inspection tour of development projects awarded on contract in the Ho township.
Mr. R. k. Bosson said the move to construct new roads in the regional capital is part of measures put in place by the Assembly to give the Ho township a facelift. According to him, the Ho Municipal Assembly under his leadership has awarded contracts to road and building contractors, not only to open-up the regional capital to befit its status but would as well attract investors into the Ho township.
Some of these projects the MCE mentioned include, GHC13m 1.13km UHAS-Cemetary-Barracks road, GHC4.5m 650mtrs CK-Bob Coffie-phills road, 340 mtrs Ho charcoal market road, 540mtrs scrap road, 140mtrs Blissam road all at the cost of GHC 5,999,623.6 and 0.370km Togbe Anikpi road, 0.45km Togbe Howusu road as well as a GHC3.5m world class Astro turf Sports field which construction has just begun but when completed it would have 52 parking space, a 6-seater washroom, Security post, mesh-fencing and flour lights.
All these projects Mr. Bosson noted are World Bank funded projects under the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development (MLGRD). It’s also under the Ghana Secondary City Support Programme (GSCSP) under the Urban Development Grant (UDG).
The Municipal Chief Executive said when the Astro turf sports field is completed, it would particularly benefit students of academic institutions and called on authorities of schools to encourage students to take up sporting activities as a serious profession.
The Site Engineer on the construction of the Astro turf Sports field, Selorm Kwame Dewotor pledged the commitment of the construction company to complete the work within the six months scheduled period.
He said Banstead Construction Co. Ltd is noted for its good Astro turf constructional works, hence the decision of the Assembly to award them the contract.
The Site Engineer therefore appealed to the Chiefs and landowners to cooperate with them to complete the work on schedule.
