Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Ghana, Robert Klah has explained the situation surrounding Amaarae’s refusal to perform at the 25th TGMAs.
Few hours before she was supposed to perform at the event on June 2, American-based Ghanaian artiste, Amaarae pulled out of her scheduled performance citing “incredible disrespect” from the production team of Charterhouse as reason for refusing to perform.
In a post on her Twitter account, Amaarae explained that her team was disregarded after several calls to the Charterhouse production crew as well as being denied rehearsal a night before the event.
However, speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on Thursday, June 6, Mr. Klah clarified that Amaarae’s withdrawal from the performance was due to “unaligned expectations.
He explained that the artiste made some specific request initially which was not met but was eventually resolved before the main event.
He continued that other issues came up which was being worked on when the artiste withdrew from the performance.
“I would summarize it as unaligned expectations. Indeed, there was a request that was not met initially, but eventually, it was met.
“But then again, beyond that, other things came up, and while working on it, the artiste decided to pull out.
“That was at the beginning but the before the day, before the final day itself, or before the main event, those things were sorted out,” he said.
Mr. Klah refrained from delving into the specifics of the issues which later came up adding that further discussions on the matter will be resolved between the artiste and the organisers.
A gospel music group, Team Eternity was also unable to perform at the event after being scheduled to perform.
The group later apologised to the general public while being silent on the reason for their inability to perform at the TGMA.
He said the TGMA will address these issues to prevent future occurrence.
