The Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Serebour Quaicoe, has stated that the Commission is cooperating with the Police Service and the Special Prosecutor’s Office in investigating two of its staff involved in the alleged bribery during the Ejisu by-election.
The incident, which occurred at the Fumesua Pentecost Church Polling Station with Polling Station Code F311503, captured NPP MP Kwadaso Dr. Kingsley Nyarko dropping an envelope on the table manned by the Presiding Officer and Ballot Issuer, during the April 30 by-election on live television.
The Commission swiftly withdrew the two temporary officials—Regina Serwaa, Ballot Issuer and George Sasu, Presiding officer—from the polling station.
Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, May 19, noted, among other things, that the Commission does not shield persons who go contrary to the laws.
