The Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Dr John Kwakye, has said that Ghanaians should vote for leaders who will rely on the natural resources of the country to generate revenue for development.
He says leaders who beg for Western aid should be rejected.
Ghanaians are preparing for the polls on December 7 this year to elect a new president and members of parliament.
In a post on his X platform, Dr KKwakye who is also an economist said “We should reject political leaders who maintain that we are poor and have to go begging for Western aid or reparation. We can not be poor when we have trillions of dollars of natural resource wealth underneath our feet.”
He further stated that political leaders who can not promise to use the “trillions of dollars of natural resource wealth to end our self-inflicted poverty must be rejected at the 2024 polls.”
“Our incoming political leaders must promise us that never again will they give away our mineral wealth cheaply to foreigners. Otherwise, we should reject them at the 2024 polls,” he stressed.
