A 24-year-old Ghanaian man, Hassan Avorgah has been apprehended for posing as a police officer and arresting a civilian.
The Nima District Police Command arrested Avorgah on Sunday, March 17 on charges of deceiving a public officer, impersonation and possession of police accoutrements without lawful authority.
According to reports, Avorgah dressed in a police uniform, arrested someone and transported the person to the Holy Garden Police Station under the guise of being a police officer.
However, he failed to give precise information regarding his purported position as a law enforcement official, leading to suspicions about his position as a police officer and was taken into custody.
When Avorgah was apprehended, he was wearing a police camouflage outfit and had several police accoutrements on him, such as two cell phones, a pouch, a taser, and a set of handcuffs.
Further investigations led the police to conduct a search at his residence in Berlin Bridge, Nima which led to the finding of some incriminating evidence against him.
Security belts, black police uniforms, a black round hat, a blue-black cardigan, and a picture frame belonging to the suspect were found at his Nima residence.
