Black Stars coach Otto Addo has named two former players, John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, alongside Joseph Laumann as assistant coaches.
This follows the appointment of Addo who is set to return after managing the team on an interim basis in 2022.
Joseph Laumann, holding a UEFA pro-license and boasting a rich playing career across Cyprus, Germany, and Vietnam, brings a wealth of experience to the coaching staff. His coaching journey includes stints with reputable clubs such as Standard Liege, VfL Bochum, and Barnsley in the English Championship.
John Paintsil, with 89 caps for the national team, brings both playing and coaching experience to the table. Having played for clubs like Fulham, West Ham United, and Kaizer Chiefs, Paintsil’s knowledge of the game is invaluable. Additionally, his coaching tenure at Kaizer Chiefs and possession of a CAF Licence B underscores his readiness for this role.
Fatawu Dauda, renowned for his prowess between the posts, represented Ghana 23 times and featured prominently in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. With a decorated playing career spanning clubs like Voradep, Okwahu United, AshantiGold, and Orlando Pirates, Dauda’s insights as a former goalkeeper are expected to be crucial in enhancing the team’s defensive capabilities.
Otto Addo’s appointment follows the departure of Chris Hughton, whose tenure witnessed disappointing results, including overseeing one of Ghana’s worst Africa Cup of Nations campaigns in Ivory Coast.
