Award-winning gospel artist, Diana Hamilton has mentioned that though worrying, there are several reasons why nurses are moving out of Ghana.
Diana Hamilton who is also Ghanaian trained nurse in an interview with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM Morning Show disclosed why she abandoned her job as a nurse to move to the UK.
“I moved about 20 years ago. My reason for moving then was because I realised that I was doing music and I was invited to the UK a lot and because of that I wasn’t able to fully work here, and I was also not able to do what I had to do ministry-wise so it became so clear that I had to go closer to where the calling was and also to be able to do my work” she disclosed.
Diana emphasised that people have their individual reasons why they migrate and pray it is for the right reasons and also pray and hope that the nation Ghana will not suffer for the migration of nurses and other professionals from the country.
Meanwhile, the President of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo has expressed worry over the rate at which experienced nurses who are supposed to train newly-recruited nurses on the job are leaving Ghana to seek greener pastures elsewhere.
She has emphasised the need to have stakeholders’ engagement to find solutions to this worrying phenomenon of brain-drain of nurses and other medical professionals before it gets out of hand.
The 2021 VGMA Artist of the Year is promoting her current song ‘Say Amen’ which is receiving tremendous attention of music lovers across the globe.
