The government is set to release mining equipment belonging to Exton Cubic Group Limited.
Equipment belonging to Engineers and Planners (E&P) was impounded by the Ashanti regional minister Simon Osei-Mensah in 2017 after it was subcontracted by Exton Cubic to prospect for bauxite on its concession at Nyinahin.
Exton Cubic’s mining license was later revoked by the Lands and Natural Resources ministry describing it as invalid.
Mr Osei-Mensah had argued that he was not privy to the operations of the company, hence the seizure of the equipment.
The company sued the Minister in court over the revocation of its license and won the case.
However, upon an advise from the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr Osei-Mensah in a letter to the regional Police Commander said, ‘You are to take the particulars of all the equipment before their release. Additionally, they should acknowledge receipt of same. Thanks for your support and co-operation’.
