The Deputy Finance Minister, Kwaku Kwarteng has cautioned that heads of department who go out of their ways to validate people’s names on payroll will face the full rigours of the law if found.
He said those caught involved in such act will be named and shamed for causing havoc to the national economy.
“So, if you are a head of department and you validated an individual as a worker and put them on the payroll we will find you out. We will prosecute you. We will arraign you and let everybody know that these are the people causing all the havoc to the national economy,” he warned on Morning Starr hosted by Francis Abban.
He further warned that ‘ghost names’ instituted by heads of departments will be fished out.
Mr Kwarteng has indicated that the request by the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) to extend the deadline for the SSNIT biometric registration will not be granted.
About 26,589 names of public workers were removed from government’s payroll.
Teachers whose names were not captured by the biometric data would forfeit their April salaries until they complete their registration process.
