The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun investigations into the reported killing of a Ghanaian student, Nana Adjei, in Latvia.
In a brief statement, the minister of foreign affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa indicated that his attention had been drawn to a disturbing video circulating online which reported the death of the Ghanaian national.
According to him, immediate steps have been taken through Ghana’s diplomatic channels to establish the facts surrounding the incident and to engage the relevant authorities in Latvia.
He assured the public that investigations were ongoing and that regular updates would be provided as more information became available.
The minister emphasized that no Ghanaian should be harmed anywhere in the world without accountability, stressing the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad.
He reaffirmed its resolve to pursue justice in the matter, adding that the state would not relent in ensuring that those responsible were brought to account.
He ended with a message of national solidarity, underscoring Ghana’s responsibility to its citizens at home and abroad, for God and Country.
