
The Living Yahweh 7th Day Sabbath Assembly (LY7DSA) on Sunday donated assorted items worth over GH¢1.2 million to about 5,700 less-privileged in the country.
The items, among others included 500 bags of rice, 300 bags of maize, 4,000 printed textiles, 50 wheelchairs, 100 white canes, over 1,000 toiletries, beverages and tubers of yam.
Some individuals were also awarded for contributing significantly to the development of the nation.
The event, which forms part of church’s bi-annual Passover and Charity Show, was aimed at providing support to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), the aged, widows as well as institutions including orphanages, security services and hospitals as part of efforts in aiding ease the living condition of the less privileged in the country.
The Founder of General Overseer of Living Yahweh, Apostle Dr Philemon Okoh Agyemang, in a sermon stressed
the need for the country to have a state farm where all kinds of crops could be planted for the needy.
This, he said, would not only help boost the country’s economy but would go a long way improve the livelihood of the poor and the needy.
He also called for a collective efforts of communities, institutions and the church saying “together we can work creating a more equitable and supportive environment and help in making a meaningful difference in the lives of the marginalised.”
“Every Christian has a responsibility to care for the less fortunate. Every Christian has been given this calling by God. We must contribute and practice charity if we want to be blessed and glimpse the face of God,” he added.
While the various stakeholders are at it to help in alleviating the suffering of this group, he advised the beneficiaries to help themselves the least possible way they can rather than wait on external help.
He reiterated the church’s commitment to providing support to the needy by saying, “giving back to the community, especially the needy is part of the church’s corporate social responsibilities.”
The Head of Ashanti Region branch of the church, Pastor Francis Aidoo, also stated that the event embodied the church’s duty and corporate social responsibility to the community and the nation as a whole.
With a sense of happiness and gratitude, the beneficiaries commended Apostle (Dr) Agyemang and the church for the kind gesture, calling on other churches to emulate the kindness of the Apostle, which they indicated it as demonstrated love and compassion.
