The Executive Chairman of the First Sky Group, Mr Eric Seddy Kutortse, has called for a legislative instrument to support for organ transplant in Ghana.
According to him, there was no recognised legislation for organ transplant programme in the country.
Speaking at the 21st annual thanksgiving Service of the First Sky Group in Accra yesterday, he said Individuals with End-Stage Kidney Disease in Ghana now have access to kidney transplantation as a treatment option.
That, he said required donor kidneys whether deceased or alive, but unfortunately there was no law to back the programme.
“A draft statement for discussion had been created under the supervision of the Ministry of Health by organ transplantation experts, this text is yet to be evaluated by stakeholders in Parliament for consideration as a workable legislative instrument to support Ghana’s kidney transplant system,” he added.
The event which was on the theme ‘The faithfulness of the Lord Never ceases,’ (Lamentations 3:22-23) was graced by ministers of state, Members of Parliament, clergy, traditional rulers, staff and management of the company heads of institutions.
He said the First Sky Group since 2016 had supported free dialysis for more than 300 patients with GH¢32 million.
He urged Ghanaians to promote peace and stability during this year’s elections.
“Let us with resolute energies, firm effort, fortitude and purpose, preserve our collective peace, mindful that we are one people, one nation with a common destiny,” he added.
Mr Kutortse said for the next two years, the company intended to build 50 church buildings in the rural areas targeted at eliminating churches in classrooms and under trees.
Preaching the sermon, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, said God was dependable, His love was steadfast and urged Christians to count on Him in time of challenges.
“God’s faithfulness is sure, reliable, He does not forget, fail and does not change or disappoint,” he added.
Rev. Boafo commended the company for their continuous corporate social responsibility for mankind and the less privileged in the communities, “His faithfulness never ceases, the Lord love a cherish giver,” he added.
The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr Stephen Yenusom Wengam, commended the staff and management of the First Sky Group for their contribution to the country’s economy and dedication to God in thanksgiving over the years.
“Many started with God and when their business is booming they have forgotten God, but for 21 years, the first Sky Group Company is consistent in thanksgiving,” he said.
He urged the staff to work hard to increase productivity.
As part of the occasion, prayers were said for nation, leaders of the country and the First Sky Group Company
