The Accra Central Division Police Command has arrested a man on the Police wanted list following an undercover operation at the Diaspora Summit 2025 held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday, December 19, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo, also known as Morgan Addo, was picked up after Police heightened surveillance at the summit in response to complaints from participants at previous events at the venue over the theft of personal items, including mobile phones, tablets, and credit cards.
According to the Police, officers mounted an undercover operation during the ongoing summit to enhance security and ensure the safety of participants. During the operation, the suspect was found wearing an official summit tag and posing as a legitimate participant. He was unable to provide a credible explanation for his presence and was subsequently arrested and detained at the Ministries Police Station to assist with investigations.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is wanted for several stealing offences within the Accra Central Division. Police say he allegedly uses deceptive tactics at ATM locations, creating difficulties for users before offering assistance and swapping victims’ ATM cards. Investigators believe he has withdrawn unspecified sums of money using stolen cards at multiple ATM points.
The suspect is also believed to have stolen ATM cards and other valuables during conference meetings by accessing participants’ bags and laptops, particularly during break periods.
Further investigations indicated that registration for the Diaspora Summit 2025 was conducted online and open to the general public, a situation Police say enabled the suspect to register and gain access to the event.
Following his arrest, Police escorted the suspect to his residence at Ashale Botwe, where a search led to the recovery of eight ATM cards belonging to different individuals. The cards, from various banks, have been retained as exhibits. Police say they will engage the respective banks to help trace the rightful owners in support of ongoing investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly during public gatherings and major events, while urging the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the Police.
