The minority leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has officially opened a new Library and Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICT) in the Kojo Beedu North Electoral Area of the Effutu Municipality.

The Library, which brings to 19 the number of ICT Centres built by the Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, is also the biggest, comprising adults and children libraries, ICT Centre, 50 computers, conference centre, an executive lounge and a cafeteria.
The newly inaugurated library, named as R.C Ekem Library and ICT Centre, has been described as a game-changer, since it would give people access to digital resources, boost digital literacy and bridge the gap for those without tech at home.

The R.C. Ekem Library would be expected to be a hub for online learning, innovation and provide a common platform for collaboration among the pupils.
The inauguration of the facility formed part of Mr Afenyo-Markin’s commitment to improving education in the constituency.

Delivering a speech during the official inauguration of the facility, Mr Afenyo-Markin called on the managers of facility to cultivate the habit of regular maintenance of the facility to ensure it would last long to serve its intended purpose.
“This Library will help improve learning in the constituency and I urge the authorities to practice the habit of good maintenance so that it will stand the test of time,” he said.
