The Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), led by its Resident Pastor, Joshua Obeng, last Friday presented 15 bags of rice, five boxes of cooking oil, three boxes of tomato puree and three boxes of pilchards in sauce to the Ghana Blind Union (GBU).
Speaking succinctly at the ceremony held at the precincts of the church, Pastor Joshua Obeng, who also presented the items in the presence of elders of the church, said the gesture, which was started in the year 2020 has now become a part of CCC to support the Blind Union.
He noted that the church recognises the difficulties that the sight impaired persons face, hence the commitment of CCC to bring relief to them, especially ahead of the yuletide.
He said apart from the over 200 white canes the CCC has provided the Union, “we have also seen the need to give them food items when Christmas is approaching so they can share among themselves and make merry with the same,” emphasising that the central message behind Christmas is sharing or giving.
The CCC Resident Pastor advised vehicle users to drive cautiously during these times, as the festive season approaches.
He noted that while the temptation to cash in during the festive occasion is high, it was important to consider the safety of other users of the road including the blind.
Pastor Obeng also advised the public to share with those who do not have during this season and thus bring smiles to the faces of others.
The Ashanti Regional President of the Ghana Blind Union, Mr Abdul Basit, received the donation on behalf of the Union and members and thanked CCC leadership and the entire congregation for the wonderful gesture.
Mr Basit acknowledged the support, including white canes and food supplies, which the Union has enjoyed over the past four years from CCC.
“It is amazing to see that one church commits itself to the course of sight impaired persons”, he noted, and thanked the General Overseer, Reverend Ransford Obeng and the members of the church for initiating and sustaining this intervention, which makes them feel loved at all times”, Mr. Basit stated.
