Italian-Ghanaian striker Davis Mensah stepped off the bench to score a late consolation in Mantova’s 2â1 defeat away to Modena in Serie B.
Introduced on 76 minutes, Mensah needed just five minutes to make his mark, arriving in the box to convert Rachid Kouda’s low cross on 81 minutes and halve the deficit.
Modena had earlier seized control at the Stadio Alberto Braglia, striking first through Alessandro Sersanti’s close-range finish from an Ettore Gliozzi assist after 14 minutes. Daniel Tonoli then doubled the hosts’ lead just before the hour, capitalising on sustained pressure to make it 2â0 and leave Mantova with an uphill task.
Mantova responded with a wave of substitutions and finally broke through when Mensah’s sharp movement and composed finish gave the visitors hope in the closing stages. Despite late pressure and a couple of half-chances, Mantova could not find an equaliser as Modena held on.
Mensah’s goal takes his 2025/26 Serie B tally to 4 goals and 1 assist in 28 league appearances. Mantova now look to bounce back in their next Serie B outing at home to Pescara on Saturday, 28 March.
