Ghana Football Association (GFA), through its Medical Committee, will hold a mid-season medical refresher workshop for football medical personnel on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The workshop, themed “Tackling Mid-Season Overuse Injuries,” forms part of the association’s effort to strengthen medical support systems within Ghanaian football and improve the capacity of club medical staff to manage player health during the demanding stages of the season.
Medical representatives from clubs competing in the Ghana Premier League, the Ghana Women’s Premier League and the Ghana Division One League are expected to participate. Medical personnel from clubs under the various Regional Football Associations will also attend the session.
The workshop will focus on updating participants on the causes, risks and management of overuse injuries in football, which often occur during periods of continuous physical exertion throughout the season.
Key areas of discussion will include the aetiology of overuse injuries, treatment approaches, rehabilitation strategies and preventive measures aimed at reducing injury-related absences among players.
The programme will also feature clinical case discussions, allowing medical practitioners to analyse real-life scenarios and exchange professional experiences to improve diagnosis and treatment protocols.
The initiative is expected to promote knowledge sharing and professional development among those responsible for player welfare in Ghana’s football system.
