Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior sought a silver lining after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, highlighting the return of Romeo Lavia as a key positive.
The midfielder, absent since the Blues’ Champions League clash with Qarabag on 5 November, came off the bench in the second half and impressed with his composure and energy.
“He came on and showed what he’s about,” Rosenior said after the match. “It’s brilliant for him, even though we lose the game, to get back on the pitch. He showed a really high level.”
The Belgian international of Ghanaian descent’s reintroduction injects fresh options into Chelsea’s midfield, offering Rosenior hope as the team looks to regain momentum in the Premier League.
Despite the setback, Rosenior also praised the traveling supporters for their unwavering backing.
“We know what an amazing fanbase we have. We want to make them proud and give them a lot of good things in the future,” he added. The manager’s acknowledgment underscored Chelsea’s ongoing effort to rebuild confidence both on the pitch and with the fans after a testing run of results.
The defeat, while disappointing, offered glimpses of promise as Rosenior evaluates his squad’s depth and fitness.
