Hearts of Oak coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani says carefully managing goalkeeper Benjamin Asare’s workload is crucial to maintaining his peak performance.
The 33-year-old was named Man of the Match in Sunday’s 1-0 Super Clash win over Asante Kotoko, a result that ended Kotoko’s 21-match unbeaten home run in the Ghana Premier League.
Baba Adamu’s 13th-minute header proved decisive, and Hearts held on despite being reduced to 10 men for 65 minutes following Emmanuel Amankwah’s red card.
Didi Dramani stressed that Asare’s consistent performances are not about proving himself, but about smart management.
“It is for us to continue to do things that will help us, things that will keep our players in better shape. He has nothing to prove to anyone - that he’s the number one of the Black Stars or Ghana’s number one,” he said.
“We just have to know how to manage him in terms of his workload. Sometimes we try to deload, and we have capable hands to do that as well. So, for me, that is the standard we’re expecting.”
With Hearts climbing to 39 points, five behind leaders Medeama, Didi Dramani’s strategy ensures Asare remains a reliable presence as the club pushes for the league title.
